Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 1 Storyline:
Still threatened by the “Titans” that rob them of their freedom, mankind remains caged inside the two remaining walls. Efforts to eradicate these monsters continue; however, threats arise not only from the Titans beyond the walls but from the humans within them as well.
After being rescued from the Colossal and Armored Titans, Eren Yaeger devotes himself to improving his Titan form. Krista Lenz struggles to accept the loss of her friend, Captain Levi chooses Eren and his friends to form his new personal squad, and Commander Erwin Smith recovers from his injuries. All seems well for the soldiers until the government suddenly demands custody of Eren and Krista.
The Survey Corps’ recent successes have drawn attention, and a familiar face from Levi’s past is sent to collect the wanted soldiers. Sought after by the government, Levi and his new squad must evade their adversaries in hopes of keeping Eren and Krista safe.
In Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 1, Eren and his fellow soldiers are not only fighting for their survival against the terrifying Titans but also against the terror of a far more conniving foe: humans.

- Spider-Man and Captain America Anciently Fought the Titans
Spider-Man and Captain America are one of the most popular superheroes. They were against the vile giants of “Attack on Titan” Marvel’s collaboration with Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 1 creator Hajime Isayama has it covered.
In a crossover comic titled “Attack on Avengers,” the eight-page adventure plays out the scenario of what happens when Titans attack the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“Attack on Avengers” has since been released digitally for free as part of Marvel’s Free Comic Book Day issue Secret Wars. It has been written by Isayama and illustrated by Gerardo Sandoval. The epic crossover was published in the Japanese magazine Brutu.
- Attack on Titan’s Best Mystery Isn’t Actually the Titans. It’s the Wall
- Lord Balto Wasn’t in Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 1 Manga
Most of the characters in the “Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 1” anime show come from the manga but there are several exceptions.
Lord Balto who first appears in Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 1 episode 5 is one of the examples. Viewers saw him while playing chess with Dot Pixis as they’re interrupted by a soldier informing them of the Titan invasion on Trost District.
- Sasha Blouse Was Actually Supposed to Die
Sasha Blouse (aka Potato Girl) has become one of “Attack on Titan’s” most precious characters. So, do you know that Hajime Isayama originally planned to kill her off?
In the early version of the Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 1manga, her character was supposed to die at the end of Volume 9 but Isayama’s editor cried in the bathroom after reading the story which convinced him to edit the chapter and spare Sasha’s life.
The decision was very interesting and some fans do not know these important details about Sasha Blouse.
5 Things to Remember from Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 1 Before the Final Season:
- Eren Can Call Titans To Aid Him In Battle… Sometimes
Season 2, which only consisted of 12 episodes, was kind of slow in the beginning as it centered more on the human and political aspects of the world. But the season ramped up when it hit Episode 31 “Warrior” and barreled on to the climax in Episode 37, “Scream.”
It was here that we learned that Eren can actually communicate with Titans. He actually learned to activate this power out of frustration when he couldn’t turn it into his titan form. The creepy smiling titan ate Hannes, and this caused Eren to dig deep and pull some hidden ability out of him that he never used before, screaming and luring other titans to kill the smiling titan.
I’m not sure why he can only do it sometimes (I do know how he acquired this ability, though, from the episode “Attack Titan”), but I’m hoping we see more of its effect in Season 4 since we didn’t really see him use it in Season 3, even though I was waiting for it!
- Armin Ate Bertholdt
Okay, so this is what I know. If you want to become a titan, you can eat one. I remember this disturbing image at the end of Season 2’s outro where children were eating the flesh off of somebody’s bones, which actually gave me some truly troubling dreams the night I saw it. Miyazaki this is not.
And in the episode “Midnight Sun”, we saw the full implications of this. After a severely burned Armin was given a titan serum to bring him back from the brink of death, he crawled over and ate Bertholdt, who was the colossal titan. I’m assuming this now means that Armin is the colossal titan, and I can only imagine what this holds in store for Season 4.
- There Are Still Secrets Possibly Hidden Within The Basement
We got bombshell after bombshell in part 1 of Season 3 with the whole Historia story arc. But part 2 of Season 3 probably dropped the biggest bombshell of them all when Eren and his friends finally went down into his father’s basement, which has been teased since Season 1.
Once down there, Eren and the rest of his Survey Corps find pictures, which is crazy since the characters in this world have never even seen a photograph before. Even stranger is the contents within the three books they find, which reveals that there is a world beyond the walls.
- We Know How The Mindless Titans Were Created, Including the One That Ate Eren’s Mom
In the episode “That Day” we learned that titan spinal fluid is what creates the mindless titans and that people were kicked over a wall and transformed as a form of punishment.
In fact, Eren’s father, Grisha, actually watched his first wife, Dina, be given the fluid, and she turned into the smiling titan. And not only that, but the smiling titan is the one that eats Grisha’s second wife, which is also Eren’s mom! This show is so messed up, and I love it!
- The Scout Team Is Now Outside the Walls
And now, the biggest moment, which will undoubtedly change everything, came in the final episode of Season 3, “The Other Side of the Wall”. In this episode, Historia decides to tell the people of the Paradis government about the history of the titans, which would melt anybody’s mind. We are then brought six years into the future, and we find that our teenage army is all grown up.
This also means that Eren and Armin are closer to death since titans apparently only have a 13-year lifespan. Outside the walls, the scout crew ends up at the ocean, which Armin has been pining for pretty much his entire life. The other scouts are overjoyed by the sea, finding it beautiful and representing freedom.
But Eren can only imagine the threat that exists out there for all of them, and that he’ll be ready. Goosebumps, up and down my arms. Especially since we see shots of the upcoming war that will take place in Season 4.
Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 1 Reviews:
Coming into Attack on Titan season 3 I was slightly nervous because I heard that this season was going to be more focused on Human vs Human, but by the second episode, all my doubts had been relieved, and thought It was the greatest shit ever.
Visuals and Animation – 10+
Out of nowhere, Studio Wit upped the quality of the production values to a point I didn’t was possible in a TV anime. The Levi vs Kenny Squad sequence in episode 2 had some of the best Sakuga and animation I had ever seen All of the anime, let alone TV anime. The amount of shit going on in that scene literally just made my brain go like, “what the fuck that just happened.”
Hiroyuki Sawano, the man, the myth, the legend. This dude has composed almost every one of my favorite soundtracks and is always consistent. Some uneducated people might say all his work is too similar, but guess what? Who tf cares if it is similar all his music is amazing and on top of that Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 1 has, in my opinion, the best soundtrack in anime EVER. PERIOD.
Eren- had some pretty good development learning that he is not special and developed some chemistry with historia and became overall more mature, only issue I had was he sometimes got a little overdramatic, and the stretch of episodes where he wanted to be eaten and was called constantly crying got a little old. Though even did come up clutch with that crystallization power and was badass when he through the barrels in rod titans mouthLevi
Also, we see how Levi has to mentor the new Levi squad – Connie, Eren, Mikasa, Jean, Sasha, and Armin, to kill other humans and hardens them as shown when the new recruits see that their faces have changed.
When historia was made queen I thought it was going to be weird but AOT pulled it off and Historia gets her huge payoff when she cuts ties with Rod completely by cutting the last piece of him, thus ending his life and breaking historia completely free of her past. Also, Historia gets closer with Eren and Mikasa catches wind of this in episode eleven when she gives Eren the Death Stare.
Uh oh, the Erwin death flags are high after episode twelve, with Levi showing concern for his safety on the mission to retake Wall Maria. Moving on, Erwin starts this arc by being arrested for a murder he didn’t commit and having dramatic conversations with pixus and Nile.
In ep 2 Armin gets his first human kill and gets emotional about it, he starts to show maturity and is more useful to the scouts also he cross-dresses and gets felt up which was weird, reminds Eren about the dream to go she the sea
Jean, Connie, and Sasha
We get see just how more mature they become when in the first battle vs Kenny squad they are indecisive and nervous and then in the second fight they just straight-up murder people from the Kenny squad. When I saw my boy Jean slice that dude’s neck and Connie also kill someone I was like “fuck they really out here killing people.” Also, that scene, when they are hype for the send-off, was pretty funny
His personality was super unique and he was a really cool character his fights with Levi were pretty hype and the whole gunman style of him in his squad was really dope. His death was pretty sad and the story of how he came to live with Levi was well done only issue I have with him is he died before his character was completely fleshed out.
Plot – 9.5
Finally the PLOT! I appreciated the change in direction and commitment to focusing on character development rather than Titans. Although I did think the bloodline power thing was sorta whack the story was overall good. All though I am pissed that series is taking a break because I was hype to see them retake Wall Maria but whatever.
