Girlfriend Girlfriend Kanojo mo Kanojo 2021

Before watching Girlfriend Girlfriend Kanojo mo Kanojo Here is the Synopsis:

One of the most anticipated romance series, Girlfriend Girlfriend Kanojo mo Kanojo began airing this past June. It’s centered around Naoya Mukai, the harem anime protagonist, and the drama that ensues when he decides to enter a three-way relationship with his current girlfriend, Saki Saki, and his new crush, Nagisa Minase.

After harboring an unrequited love for years, Naoya Mukai finally gets to date his childhood friend, Saki Saki. However, just as he tries to commit himself to this relationship, he receives an abrupt confession from Nagisa Minase.

At first, Naoya tries to reject her but is soon overcome by feelings of not wanting to hurt Nagisa. Trying to avoid betraying his girlfriend’s trust in him, Naoya thinks up a “solution” to make both girls happy—two-timing. Naturally, Saki rebuffs this idea, but through Naoya’s and Nagisa’s persistence, she reluctantly submits.

With this, a three-way affair begins between Naoya, his girlfriend, and his “other” girlfriend, as they develop a relationship that deviates from the social norm.

Ratings: How was the first episode of Girlfriend Girlfriend Kanojo mo Kanojo?

Nicholas Dupree
Rating: 4.5/5

As my tenure at ANN can attest, I’m a sucker for a good rom-com, harem, or otherwise. While part of it is just nostalgia for some of the stuff I devoured when I first got into anime and manga (hey there, Rosario + Vampire) it’s also because I like exploring different kinds of romance in fiction, and for whatever reason, modern harem series seem to be rife with different ideas for how to talk about love.

That’s not to say all of them do it well, but still. So when I heard the premise of this redundantly titled show, I was both curious and skeptical. There was room here for, if nothing else, a novel approach to your typical love triangle woes, but there’s also plenty of room for a trashy pile-up of mindless wish fulfillment you usually only see in the secret harem endings of dating sims.

As of this first episode, both those possibilities are still viable endpoints, but if nothing else I laughed a whole lot during this premiere.

Most of that comes down to the genuinely farcical tone of the whole affair – our protagonist Naoya is such an honest and earnest fool that he can’t help but loudly proclaim every stray thought that passes through the hollow walnut he calls a brain, which is either excruciating or charming depending on just how dumb you like your harem focus-points.

More importantly, that earnestness is what keeps this whole premise feeling sincere rather than sleazy. Most other romcom protags would come off as scumbags for proposing they date two girls at once, but this loud-mouthed fool isn’t capable of that kind of two-faced nonsense, and the moment he comes up with the idea he’s rushing off to get permission from both prospective partners.

Is it a realistic or grounded portrayal of how real people enter polyamorous relationships? God no. But in the land of high school anime, it’s a breath of fresh air.

That same sentiment colors much of the rest of this episode, which skips over the expected roadblocks to get this whole scenario into domesticity mode by the 15-minute mark. Rather than being jealous of her new co-Girlfriend, Saki is immediately charmed by Nagisa’s puppy dog demeanor, and all of her objections are about not trusting Naoya’s intentions.

Immediately after all parties agree, they just move in together because fuck it, why not cut out the two episodes of filler it would take to get to this point and just get straight to the awkward phase?

By the time they were negotiating the terms of a hypothetical threesome it almost felt like we’d jumped five episodes ahead. But it works, because the entire appeal of this story is its unconventional premise, so we might as well jump into the deep end. I can’t speak for others, but that’s a move that I both appreciate and found pretty funny.

The biggest immediate issue is the visuals. While the character designs are nice enough, they do feel a tad bland. The only detail that really stuck with me was Naoya’s small and desperate eyes, and considering your harem lead is usually the least memorable character, that’s probably not a great sign.

The animation is likewise serviceable but unexceptional, with a lot of still frames and panning shots in between key moments and dialogue. It’s not awful, but it’s a sign that things probably won’t look too great moving forward.

As for how well this whole thing will reflect on real-life poly relationships, it’s probably best not to expect too much. It’s possible it could be good – after all, Mysterious Girlfriend X managed to be a sincere exploration of sexual boundaries AND a horny comedy built around a drool fetish, so who’s to say this dumbass trio can’t also have something to say about maintaining a healthy polycule?

But at the same time, I know enough about polyamory to know that it’s something that’s both complicated and takes a lot of work, and that’s generally not what these kinds of shows are about. But so long as it manages to stay funny rather than sleazy, I think I’m down for seeing where this whole mess goes.

Love triangles are a staple in fiction—just as much as the ever-popular “will they won’t they” trope. Most of the time, it is a question of which boy/girl the main character will choose to be within the end.

But despite a large amount of triangle symbolism in the anime’s opening, that’s not what this anime is really about. What we have here is the story of a guy who suddenly realizes he is poly and has no idea how to go about creating a successful poly relationship.

To steal a quote from Dr. Nerdlove, “polyamory is dating on hard mode.” After all, you’re not only dealing with one other person’s feelings but several people’s—and their feelings towards each other as well. Just stumbling into a poly relationship without doing some serious research and soul searching is all but guaranteed to hurt all parties involved.

And that’s the thing about this anime Girlfriend Girlfriend Kanojo mo Kanojo: I absolutely detest Naoya. He’s horribly unethical about how he goes about starting this poly relationship.

There are many kinds of poly relationships, from ones where there is the main couple and the other people involved are just there for sex to ones where there is an equally physical and emotional relationship between all those involved.

What’s important is that everyone involved understands and agrees on what kind of poly relationship they are in and lays down some serious ground rules to make everyone comfortable.

The big problem here is that Naoya’s unilaterally deciding the shape of the relationship. He’s basically painting things as “if you break up with me over this, I’ll just date her instead” (to Saki) and “if you want to date me, you need to be okay with me dating her as well” (to Nagisa). It’s nothing less than emotional blackmail that forces them into his little poly adventure. Enthusiastic consent this is most certainly not.

Now, there are two mitigating circumstances that make the character possibly redeemable. Firstly, he’s young and has just figured out he is poly. He has no clue what he is doing in an ethical or practical sense.

The second is that he is born and raised in Japan where poly relationships are even more rare and ostracized than in America. He may not even know there are resources out there to educate him on how to do things ethically.

Still, as much as this is being painted as a crazy comedy, I can’t help but see it as a tragedy. The three of them in Girlfriend Girlfriend Kanojo mo Kanojo are learning the hard way what not to do in a poly relationship while still figuring out if they really want to be in one or not.

This anime is a sole reminder to not take harem seriously.

When I first saw Girlfriend Girlfriend Kanojo mo Kanojo reception, and how everyone thought it was cringing or some bs takes up space for no reason, I instantly knew that this was something for me to watch.

For some reason, anything with an illogical nature or dumb premise (or just a low mean score) seems to be frowned upon just because it is dumb and cringe and blue pilled. But some anime is dumb on purpose, so I don’t understand why stupid anime is taken so seriously because that isn’t the way they are meant to be judged upon, Girlfriend Girlfriend Kanojo mo Kanojo is a good example of this.

This anime is ridiculous, follows wacky and over-the-top character behavior with some chemistry going up and down like some kind of deranged trigonometric polynomial function, the story just does whatever the hell it wants, and I really have a feeling it will get even more ridiculous down the line.

But it is all this nonsense that makes Girlfriend Girlfriend Kanojo mo Kanojo so fun to watch. Alongside the production behind this, which seems to have a higher budget and better seiyuus than any harem I can remember. Well, maybe not as good-looking as Oresuki was tho. Girlfriend Girlfriend Kanojo mo Kanojo is genuinely something I look forward to, all in all, it’s alright to like stupid stuff.

In any case, this anime is something you want to watch in this dry season, the same season with some Otome bs I dropped 65 years ago, some fanfic spin-off of ReLife and Sakurasou, and WEP 2.0. I have said what I have needed to say.

Hopefully, this preview has convinced you to watch Girlfriend Girlfriend Kanojo mo Kanojo not as something along the lines of <name of very deep anime is very deep> but as something to sit down and have a laugh at.

10/10 because I laughed. A lot.

No. This is not a satire.
No. I am not trolling.
No. I am not joking.

How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom

Before watching here is the synopsis of How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom:

O, Hero! When Kazuya Souma is unexpectedly transported to another world, he knows the people expect a hero. After the death of his grandfather, 19-year-old Kazuya Souma—an aspiring civil servant—is left all alone with no one to call family. Out of the blue, he is transported to the Elfrieden Kingdom, a small ailing country in another world, to be a “hero.” An ongoing war with the demon army has put the entire world in peril, and Kazuya was summoned to aid in the conflict as an offering from Elfrieden to its allies.

Dissatisfied with being used as tribute, Kazuya decides to help the kingdom revamp its declining economy—not by way of adventuring or war, but through administrative reform. Abruptly declared the King of Elfrieden and betrothed to the princess, the “Realist Hero” Kazuya sets out to assemble a group of talented citizens who will assist him in his bureaucratic battles to get the kingdom back on its feet.

(トモエ・イヌイTomoe Inui)

  • Halbert Magna

Son of the noble house of Magna and member of the Elfrieden Army under Duke Georg Carmine. He met Kazuya when the king overheard an argument between Halbert and his childhood friend Kaede Foxia. Rather than being arrested for Lese Majeste, Halbert was instead transferred to the Forbidden Army, under Souma’s jurisdiction.

The two have since become friends, and Halbert is one of the few people permitted to disregard the rules of royal etiquette with Souma and carry on a casual conversation. In the aftermath of the Storm Crisis, it is revealed that he and Kaede have recently gotten engaged. He is also partnered with Ruby, a Red Dragon of the Star Dragon Mountain Range.(ハルバート・マグナHarubāto Maguna)

  • Kaede Foxia

A member of the Mystic Fox race, Kaede is the daughter of the noble house of Foxia and childhood friend to Halbert Magna. She is an intelligent and talented young woman and a Mage in the Forbidden Army specializing in Earth Magic. She is currently serving as a staff officer under Captain Ludwin Arcs and is Hal’s direct superior, a situation that both pleases and irritates both of them at times.

Kaede cares deeply for Hal, and she spoke in his defense when the two first met Kazuya. In the aftermath of the Storm Crisis, it is revealed that she is engaged to Halbert when she chastises him for unthinkingly riding on Ruby’s back. (カエデ・フォキシアKaede Fokishia)

  • Ludwin Arcs

Captain of the Royal Guard and Commander of the Forbidden Army under the direct command of Kazuya. He is a popular man in Kazuya’s royal court, but despite his looks and position, remains unattached. This is mainly due to rumors of financial trouble, as Ludwin is often seen eating the cheapest items on offer in the castle’s cafeteria.

He is childhood friends with Genia Maxwell, whom he regards with brotherly affection, despite her eccentricity. After Kazuya realizes Genia’s usefulness as an inventor, he and Liscia pressure Ludwin into an engagement with Genia, which he shyly accepts. (ルドウィン・アークスRudowin Ākusu)

  • Genia Maxwell

Last of the noble house of Maxwell, and childhood friend of Ludwin Arcs. She is an eccentric genius and self-proclaimed Overscientist, specializing in the study of technology and artifacts discovered in the various dungeons found throughout the world. Her talents have been recognized by Kazuya, and the king is currently seeking to develop and implement several of her inventions for the good of the kingdom.

  • Excel Walter

A sea serpent who is over 500 years old at the time of Kazuya’s summoning. Despite her age, as a member of a “long-lived” race, she still has the appearance of a human in her mid-to-late twenties. She is the Admiral of the Kingdom of Elfrieden’s Navy, based in the Lagoon City of the Walter Duchy. She is the only one of the three duchies to publicly side with Kazuya during the Civil War.(エクセル・ヴォルターEkuseru Vorutā)

  • Castor Vargas

A dragonewt and the General of the Kingdom of Elfrieden’s Air Force. He is a loyal and skilled warrior, yet is impulsive to action. As the head of the Vargas Duchy, he opted during the Civil War to have the Air Force take a neutral stance but publicly supported Duke Carmine with his personal members of the Air Force.

In his youth, he attempted to engage in romantic relations with Duchess Excel Walter but was rejected. He ended up marrying one of the duchess’s daughters, making him her son-in-law. Though defeated during the Civil War, Kazuya decided to spare Castor from execution for his treason. (カストール・バルガスKasutōru Barugasu)

  • Carla Vargas

A dragonewt and daughter of Castor Vargas. She is Castor’s eldest child, also having a younger brother named Carl. She is friends with Liscia from their time together at the military academy. Despite Liscia’s attempts to use Carla’s connection to Castor, Liscia was unable to convince both to support Kazuya during the Civil War.

Carla sided with her father during the Civil War despite Castor’s attempt to disinherit her along with her mother and brother to spare her from potential treason charges. Kazuya decided to likewise spare Carla from execution for treason, forcing her to become one of the royal family’s maids instead. (カルラ・バルガスKarura Barugasu)

  • Georg Carmine

A lion-headed beastman and General of the Kingdom of Elfrieden’s Army. He was a loyal vassal, a widely respected tactician, and a mentor to Liscia. However, during the Civil War, he was the public opposition to Kazuya’s reign as king. It is revealed after being defeated during the Civil War that he actually supported Kazuya’s decisions, but was sacrificing himself to be a rallying point for Kazuya’s domestic enemies within the nobility of Elfrieden.

Though he would be sentenced to be executed for treason, Kazuya offered him “poisoned wine” to escape his sentence. Though officially dead, according to an Elfrieden news report, a leader of Kazuya’s personal spy network, the Black Cats, looks suspiciously like the “late” duke. (ゲオルグ・カーマインGeorugu Kāmain)

  • Albert Elfrieden

The previous king of Elfrieden before Kazuya and father of Liscia. He was regarded as a friendly, yet overall weak, king. In order to satisfy the demands of the Gran Chaos Empire for either supporting funds or a summoned hero, he orders the summoning which brought Kazuya to the world. After seeing Kazuya’s initial plans, he abdicates the throne to Kazuya and arranges for Liscia to be married to him. Albert married into the royal family through Elisha and thus is not technically the blood royal. (アルベルト・エルフリーデンAruberuto Erufurīden)

  • Elisha Elfrieden

The previous king of Elfrieden before Kazuya and father of Liscia. He was regarded as a friendly, yet overall weak, king. After seeing Kazuya’s initial plans, he abdicates the throne to Kazuya and arranges for Liscia to be married to him. Genjitsu Yuusha is nice by all means, but
Just to fulfill the Isekai checklist it had to make that same mistake
Add a harem,Now the harem genre is one of my favorites don’t get me wrong I (WE) love it and it has its own charms but we can all agree that if death note had a harem it would really be out of place and weird that is what happens in How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom as well we have all the political back and forth and the smarts and all that but then there are multiple girls fawning on him for no ahem ahem “realistic” reason.

The only reason I feel the cover girl exists so far is to ask soma questions and make him seem cool while also being a waifu which is why I am dissatisfied with the harem being there in an otherwise How a realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom is a  fantastic show.

The show How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom overall is a really fun ride that focuses on the political elements of a somewhat medieval setting and using logic and politics as well as a bit of economics to make a failed kingdom a better one. To put it simply it is a log horizon minus the guilds and multiple people reincarnated with Shiroe(soma) being the king of a failed state.

It does try to follow most of the Isekai tropes but hey that has its own fans right? I like the fact that the MC is likable and not some Kirito Knowall with a degree in every possible subject on earth, his knowledge seems to be more about Human resources and how to get shit done which is kind of a big deal even in our world you know.

The art is well done even if it does present the standard Isekai setting, it tries and succeeds in telling us about the country lore, conflicts, and issues in a very concise and practical manner.

I like how well done and properly explained the map was not putting its title of a realist to shame, voice acting seems to have some prominent names and is being carried out in a relatively good manner, characters are a little lifeless except the new minister OP is great and so is the ED, they haven’t had the chance to show off any animation yet

If you like log horizon or isekais in general you are sure to love this, However even if you are not an isekai fan this is one of the Better takes on the genre so please do give it a shot!

When I first was looking through this season and picking what I wanted to watch, I had found this show: How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom, and it peaked my interest. Being that I love fantasy, who doesn’t?

But I do love a bit of business too. So to see those two, sort of mixed, it comes across as a great idea. In a sense, maybe like Animal Crossing, where you are in charge of helping things, set up things, all the while taking profit into consideration. It all sounds like a recipe for success. There is just one slight issue with the series How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom…

It’s a harem for some reason.

Now I’m not saying Harems are bad. But you watch from the first few episodes of How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom, and you’ll see that this show didn’t really need a harem idea in the first place. It would’ve been fine without it. Does it make it a less enjoyable experience? No, it doesn’t. It feels like a bit of fresh air on the Isekai scene. Much like a certain other two in this season, it’s actually nice seeing an Isekai, without the same ol stick happening.

As the story follows Kazuya Souma, a ‘hero’ who was summoned in typical Isekai fashion, and his way of being such, is more saving the kingdom’s financial problems, and helping it establish itself, and grow better. Which already sounds like a much better plotline than a normal run-of-the-mill Isekai. There is a lot to like about Souma too.

He really does seem to have the best interests at heart, and even takes in a wide range of people to help with fixing the kingdom. A good bloke for sure. Another main character is Liscia, who is the daughter of the previous king, who honestly with how she looks, gives me Saber vibes lol. But she is very strong-willed and has a strong and good personality.

Can’t go wrong there. Besides them, however, there are so far few interesting characters to boot, some good, some bad, or least not praiseworthy, like the King just really disappoints me, with how weak he can come across at points.

The art style seems nice really. Can’t really say anything bad about it, much like the sound of the show. Both are fitting, and look and sound good. What more could you want honestly? Like, I really do love how some of the outfits look, and the style really brings that out in all honesty. Very well done on both ends.

Despite having a harem tagline for some reason. This show How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom is a good watch all rounds, so get to watching now!

3. Review of How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom

I’ll get straight to the point: (NO SPOILERS)

If you love Log Horizon, like incredibly logical and somewhat unconventionally thinking character, enjoyed Tycoon games as a kid, and have been looking for a more mature take on the isekai genre, stop reading and go watch How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom.

How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom is basically Country Tycoon the Anime, the show where we can vicariously rule a nation through our main character Kazuya once every week.Story: 7 (+3 if you’ve got somewhat of a God complex)
You’re going to find this incredibly boring if you’re not into smart characters using their intellect to shape the world around them. The name of the anime How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom basically describes everything you’d expect to see.

This is an isekai anime, so demihumans and magic will spice things up a bit making all the plot twists and curveballs our hero will have to face in the upcoming episodes something to look forward to.It’s really not going to blow you away unless you really like this type of thing, think Shiroe from Log Horizon, Lelouch from Code Geass, and Senku from Dr. Stone. These are all characters with an intellect that basically makes them gods to the people around them and made them the main drivers of the anime’s story.

Characters: 10
Do we have smart, strong, non-over-the-top female characters??? In an Isekai anime???

The supporting cast is likable, but the main characters, absolutely beautiful.
I cared about the two main characters from the second they met each other, I know you will too.

If you’re fed up with the repeated anime troupes that Konosuba so beautifully displayed, you’ll love this. This is a burst of fresh air.
There are obviously still a lot of typical anime tropes, these are necessary to give meat to the characters without having to give each on a character arc.Art: 7
It’s average, there’s nothing wrong with being average especially with the new standards set by JJK, Demon Slayer and every subsequent anime that has seen their animators step up their game (I really hope they’re being paid more though).

Sound: 8
Once again, nothing mind-blowing. It’s good.

Enjoyment: 9
I’ll hammer this in one more time…

How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom, smart characters shaping the world around them, a more mature take on the isekai genre.

However, due to her stage fright, Kanon fails to make it into Yuigaoka Girls’ High School’s music program and instead ends up in the general curriculum. Even though Kanon makes the conscious decision to quit music altogether, her classmate Tang Keke rekindles Kanon’s passion for music with her own: a passion for school idols.

Although Keke and Kanon try to form a school idol group, their effort meets strong objections from Ren Hazuki, the daughter of the school’s director. Even so, the girls soon visit the director, who allows them to set up their school idol club under one condition—they must win first place at the Yoyogi School Idol Festival.

The resilience of these aspiring idols is put to the test as they face the challenges that come their way. Throughout their journey, the girls make new friends and meet new members that join them to become the dazzling idols others can only imagine.

Development of Love Live! Superstar!!

The franchise announced a separate anime adaptation other than Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club in January 2020, which features a new set of characters, who are all first-year students in a newly reopened school originally on the verge of demolition. The school lies between the Omotesando, Harajuku, and Aoyama neighborhoods of Tokyo. In addition, an audition for one of the main cast was held on March 12, 2020, but was postponed due to COVID-19.

Atsushi Saitō serves as the character design adapting the style of the series’ original character designer Yūhei Murota. The school name was decided through fans’ votes and concluded in May 2020 with Yuigaoka Girls High School (結ヶ丘女子高等学校Yuigaoka Joshi Kōtō Gakkō). The main characters’ names were also announced: Kanon Shibuya, Tang Keke, Chisato Arashi, Sumire Heanna, and Ren Hazuki.

The project’s name, Love Live! Superstar!! was announced in July through the series’ exclusive magazine Love Live! Days. In September, the school idol group’s name, “Liella!” was also chosen through fans’ votes. The name was chosen among 16 options that fans could vote for.

The name “Liella!” comes from a combination of the French word “lier” which means “to connect”, which is the same as Yui () in the school’s name in Japanese, and “brilliance“, which means an “inner glow”. Behind the group’s name lies the feelings of the hope that the small stars of today who have their own brilliance will become superstars someday.

The cast of the five main characters was later revealed in December 2020: Sayuri Date, Liyuu, Nako Misaki, Naomi Payton, and Nagisa Aoyama. Date and Aoyama are members who passed the open audition that was held earlier in the year. The group’s debut single, “Hajimari wa Kimi no Sora” (始まりは君の空) released on April 7, 2021. The single includes an animation PV and released in two versions—each with different B-sides: “Minna de Kanaeru Monogatari” (みんなで叶える物語) and “Watashi o Kanaeru Monogatari” (私を叶える物語).

Reviews of Love Live! Superstar!!:

1. Review of Love Live! Superstar!!
Aug 16, 2021
Nexis09 (All reviews)

Love like from the outside looks like a long and confusing franchise to get into but whether you are an old fan, a current fan, or are completely new, here’s my reasoning why I think you should give this season a try:

Firstly, I would like to state that you do not have to watch any of the other seasons to watch this, it’s a completely new story with completely new characters. This is the same for the other seasons but I think this one stands out as a good starting point due to it being the future of the franchise.

Art and animation of Love Live! Superstar!!
The art in this season is especially amazing. All the background environments are drawn with so much detail and it really immerses you in the setting. I was a bit skeptical about this since Love Live! Superstar!! has been using the school setting for four seasons now but this time the environment has a really cozy and unique feel to it and overall really stands out compared to any high school set anime.

Next, the animation is so fluid, especially for a slice-of-life style show. The character expressions are so exaggerated that it makes it so much more amusing to watch. You can really tell they have thrown their budget into making this season look good and it has paid off.

Characters of Love Live! Superstar!!
Compared to the other seasons, they have cut the main cast down to just five members. This has already allowed each character individually to get more screen time and if the anime continues on like this it shouldn’t have any problems with handling character development going forward.

This is on top of the fact it’s from a franchise that is extremely good at making likable characters that people literally make shrines of so even if you don’t like the initial designs of the main girls, you will easily grow to love them from their dialogue.

The soundtrack of Love Live! Superstar!!
All of the jpop style idol songs they have released so far have been great. The music for the opening and the ending is especially nice, as well as the visuals for both. In contrast to this, however, there is also some really nice background piano music in some more emotional scenes that hits the tone really well.

Story of Love Live! Superstar!!
I’m not going to lie and say the story is some kind of incredible masterpiece. It looks like it’s going to be your high school girls wanting to become famous idols shenanigans.

Despite this, there already have been some good character moments linked to the said plot and I really don’t think the story has to be amazing for something to be good. A simple story executed well is sometimes better than an unnecessarily complicated one and I definitely think that’s the case in this situation.

Enjoyment of Love Live! Superstar!!
You may have looked at my score and thought I was mad. After only 4 episodes rating something a 10 but I think the enjoyment I got from this anime already made it worth this score. There are so many moments where I was just laughing so much at the weird stuff going on and it’s overall just very lighthearted and entertaining.

Voice acting of Love Live! Superstar!!
A big part of Love Live! Superstar!! is the culture behind the voice actors. I am nowhere near an expert on this but I can say that so far all the voice actors have done an amazing job.

The voices that stand out the most are obviously the main girls and at first, you may look at their lack of roles and be suspicious but there is absolutely nothing to worry about. The voices for all the characters fit perfectly and they convey the emotions of the character extremely well, on top of having nice singing voices.

In conclusion, I think you should invest your time in this anime or at least give the first episode a try and if you enjoy it, you will probably enjoy the rest. I understand it won’t be for everyone but for the few that like this kind of stuff, this one already has stood out a lot to me.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 (Japanese: 小林さんちのメイドラゴン) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Coolkyousinnjya. Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 began serialization in Futabasha‘s Monthly Action magazine in May 2013 and is licensed in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment. Four spin-off manga have also been serialized in Monthly Action. An anime television series adaptation by Kyoto Animation aired in Japan between January and April 2017. A second season titled Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S premiered in July 2021.

As Tooru continues on her quest to become the greatest maid and Kanna Kamui fully immerses in her life as an elementary school student, there is not a dull day in the Kobayashi household with mischief being a daily staple. On one such day, however, a massive landslide is spotted on the hill where Kobayashi and Tooru first met—a clear display of a dragon’s might.

When none of the dragons they know claim responsibility, the perpetrator herself descends from the skies: Ilulu, the radical Chaos Dragon with monstrous power rivaling that of Tooru.

Sickened by Tooru’s involvement with humans, Ilulu resorts to the typical dragon method of resolving conflict—a battle to the death. Despite such behavior, she becomes intrigued by Kobayashi’s ability to befriend dragons and decides instead to observe just what makes Kobayashi so special. With a new troublesome dragon in town, Kobayashi’s eccentric life with a dragon maid is only getting merrier.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2

The Main Characters of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2:

  • Kobayashi (小林)

Kobayashi is the main protagonist of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2. She works as a computer programmer in Jigokumeguri System Engineering Inc. She has been regarded as kind-hearted and reliable among her friends and colleagues. Level-headed and pragmatic, she stands as the source of reason when dealing with her dragon friends.

Kobayashi is a bespectacled young woman with bright red hair that is always tied in a ponytail and dead fish hazel brown eyes. She is known to be flat-chested, a physical trait that frustrates her to the point of grumbling over the female dragons’ ample busts when they are in their human forms. In one of her drunken escapades, she demands that Tohru or Lucoa share some of their “blessing” with her.

  • Tohru (トール, Tōru)

Tohru Kobayashi (小林トール Kobayashi Tōru) is one of the main characters in the series Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2. Tohru is a female dragon with the ability to transform into a human girl. After Kobayashi rescues her, she falls in love with her and decides to work for her as a maid. She is the daughter of Damocles.

As a Chaos Dragon, Tohru was raised to hate humans and was supposed to be a fierce and dangerous force of evil with nothing other than destruction in mind. However, this all changed when she met Kobayashi. She is now cheerful and kind to every human she meets, except for those who are real, or as it is in most cases, imaginary, a threat to her love interest in Kobayashi. She is also quickly influenced by what she sees on the television or the Internet and shares a fiery relationship with her rival, Elma.

As Kobayashi’s maid, Tohru is a hard worker and cares deeply for the household, tending to all aspects of daily life, although this will often lead to trouble such as when Tohru tries to feed her tail to Kobayashi, or molests Kobayashi’s dirty laundry. Even still, Kobayashi always shows her appreciation for Tohru’s efforts and does her best to guide Tohru in the ways of modern life and human culture on Earth. Tohru is very protective of Kanna and is essentially her mother figure and big sister combined.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2

  • Kanna

Kanna Kamui (カンナカムイ) also known as Kanna Kobayashi, is one of the main characters in Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2. Kanna is a young female dragon, who is exiled from her world as a consequence of her pranks. Kanna is soft-spoken and quiet and demonstrates most of her emotions through minute expressions. Despite being technically older than her human peers, Kanna behaves no differently from a human child as she easily tires of routine and enjoys playing games.

However, despite her generally unexpressed and implicit demeanor, Kanna is not without emotion, indicated when she has a sudden outburst and cries when Riko Saikawa initially views Kanna as a rival instead of being friends. Kanna may also have romantic feelings for Riko, expressing a desire for a similar relationship to what Kobayashi and Tohru have.

Dragon Characters of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2:

  • Elma (エルマEruma) A water dragon belonging to the Order faction, rival to Tohru’s Chaos faction, who ends up working alongside Kobayashi at her office after getting stuck in the human world. She is as powerful as she is diligent and driven, but also naive, indecisive, and easily swayed by food (primarily sweets) due to her low income. Her human form is distinguished by purple hair, a horn (which she hides for work), her habit of having a jacket or kimono hanging off her shoulder, and wielding a trident; Elma Joui (上井 エルマJōi Eruma) is the identity she uses while in Kobayashi’s workplace.
  •  Quetzalcoatl (ケツァルコアトルKetsarukoatoru), Lucoa (ルコアRukoa) is an Aztec dragon goddess and another friend of Tohru, who is aligned with neither faction and lost her divine status centuries ago after getting drunk and causing a scandal involving her younger sister, much like the Quetzalcoatl of the original mythology. Tohru sees her as a source of wisdom but will sometimes casually reference the events in her past, much to Lucoa’s embarrassment. She lives with Shouta after she interrupted his summoning spell to prevent him from summoning a dangerous demon, causing him to mistakenly believe she is a succubus. Lucoa appears in her human form as a tall, well-endowed woman with striking heterochromia. She often becomes overly affectionate with Shouta, scaring him, and having others mark her as a pervert. She tends to wear tight-fitting clothing that shows a lot of skin, and a running gag involves her showing up to a public place only to be dragged away by a staff member for being dressed inappropriately.

  • Fafnir (ファフニールFafunīru) Another old friend of Tohru, he is a male Chaos faction dragon with a strong distrust for humans which leads to him questioning much of Tohru’s actions and ideals in his earlier appearances. He shares some resemblance to the traits of his namesake, such as his cold demeanor and disdainful mentality. He appears as a refined young man with long black hair and red eyes in his human form. After Tohru attempts to find him a place to stay (under the name Takeshi Ooyama (大山 猛Ōyama Takeshi)), Fafnir eventually comes to live with Takiya, becoming obsessed with video games and popular culture.

  • Ilulu (イルルIruru) is a Chaos faction dragon who targets Tohru because of her relationship with a human, attempting to destroy the city in the process. She then turns her eye to Kobayashi, trying to drive her and Tohru apart to prove her beliefs, but after Kobayashi and Tohru save her from an Order dragon she has a change of heart and ends up living with them. Ilulu appears in her human form as a petite girl with a very ample bust.

Interesting Facts about Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2:

  • Kobayashi tends to become rowdy and aggressive, when she is intoxicated, especially in her interests in maids, and is not above subjecting Tohru to her drunken whims.
  • Kobayashi enjoys a brand of alcohol known as Dragonslayer, a bottle of which she shared with Tohru when they met.
  • The surname Kobayashi means “small” (小) (ko) and “forest” (林) (Hayashi/Bayashi)
  • Kobayashi assumes Tohru is named for Thor, Norse god of thunder. Tohru herself states that she was named for a real-world author, likely to be J.R.R. Tolkien (Japanese: トールキン).
  • Tohru is considered as the only Maid-Dragon in the Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 since Lucoa is considered as a guardian of Shota
  • Kanna has a habit of eating bugs and small animals.
  • Quetzalcoatl is often referred to as Lucoa (from “lcoa” of the deity’s name as adapted to the Japanese syllabary)

Jul 29, 2021
Gween_Gween (All reviews)

There is a misconception about how to treat this anime as a viewer. Many people fall into the disgrace of just awarding its superficial characteristics, maybe because they are appealing to a vast part of the community.

The reality is that Dragon Maid is not just its colorful palette and huge milkers, it is not exclusively eye candy to enjoy the beautiful designs of its characters and their apparently insane way of being, Dragon Maid signifies a hell unique experience that mix the peak of the Japanese animation standards while mixing it with some well-thought building of its elements.

First of all, I’m not going to say that KyoAni hasn’t done a good job with this second season. Indeed, I think that the animation, art, and design are as good as it has been with the first season. Fluid animation, well-done motions, spreads a living colourful experience that creates an ambiance that is eloquent with the own story and it translates the feelings told by the story to the viewer through the eyes and the ears in a magnificent way.

The point is, that is what we expect from them at this point. Anything less than this would be a degrade of quality, they are just that great. Then, how can we evaluate something that good in that apartment?

To do so we have to evaluate the goals of this anime in its story. This is a Comedy, SoL, and Fantasy. One could be unwise and say that the sole purpose of this anime is to convey a wholesome comedy, but the good thing is that it works even it is just that!

The comedy is amusing. You have running gags that have been building from the last season and still work, they work because the character’s nature conveys a reasonable excuse to them to exist in the first place. There is no external force that drives the comedy, the comedy is an endogenous characteristic of the own nature of the story and the consequences that have been molded through the presentation of the characters.

To be specific to this season, in this case, any comedy act of Ilulu is masterfully created by her own way of growing up, and how she actually perceives the human race.

Then, why is that foolish to just say that this is a wholesome comedy? There is a deeper act going on. The concept of the juxtaposition from characters from another world into this world, and the critiques and moral concepts that arise from them are masterfully done.

The fact that many people can’t look past the tits, lolis, and shot as relationships that are actually a huge reference, is a landmark about how this anime does this in such a proficient way. It is not on your nose, you have to actually pay attention and interpret the whole world-building that has been presented throughout this and the past season to really get and click the point of this.
Topics like mutual respect, the importance of honesty, living your own life, understanding the other, and being aware of your own actions are camouflaged behind the blurred lines of comedy. Attacks to the exploitative working force, references and understanding about our way of living, and proper reflection of it through the usage of the dragons are always the focal point of the comedy.

The character’s relationships and how they mold the perspective of the viewer and the understanding of the feelings of all characters is perfect. And, as I said, it is not on the nose, which makes the whole experience way more gratifying, you are not being taught those, you can perceive this anime as both a wholesome experience and as an analysis of our own way of living.

That is why for me this anime is a 10 this season because it continues this act of beauty. The Saikawa-Kanna relationship is still there, the great contrast of Elma is still there, Lucoa is given even more color and Tooru is as great as ever.

Ilulu as a character is still not completely done, for sure as we can tell by the OP, but what we have seen yet is perfect. The way to convey your perspective way of living, the importance of respect to the children, and the concept of regret and how it affects our way of thinking and living is perfect, can’t ask for more yet.
2. Review of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2:
Jul 29, 2021
CamToons (All reviews)

I had no idea such a sequel was coming as I thought Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 has ended and Kyoto Animation took a hard hit from the tragedy but currently 4 episodes in as of writing this review, and I love every second of it.

I would have normally given Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 a 10 which I plan on giving it if it continues like this but I realize that may partly be because of how much respect I have for Kyoto Animation as a Studio, the work they make, and the tough times they went through which would turn my 10 to a 9 but that’s about it.

The reason I am writing this review is that I was expecting more people to have similar thoughts which there sure are but not as much as I was expecting for an anime of this caliber. The animation is amazing, the color coordination and choices are amazing, the small details like having the train’s holding things on the ceiling be actually animated is amazing, the effort they put into this is amazing, and currently, the story is going pretty well in my opinion.

Some people also acknowledge the animation and art but are worried about the story or pacing or are just watching the anime for the “plot” which is exactly what I don’t understand.

The anime doesn’t have many many episodes and will probably peak around 13 episodes or something similar to that so there won’t be a HunterxHunter or Naruto kind of pacing and at the end of the day, the series Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 is a comedy oriented slice of life that also can encompass more serious themes next to the holy Kanna moments that make people go to jail, but even if you are wary of the story, most of the show still hasn’t aired so I think if the show keeps going strong, those thoughts will also inevitably change.

However, what I don’t get is people watching this for the “plot”. There is a “plot” in many of the scenes and characters but why would you watch Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 for that? I see it more like a bonus rather than a part of the show that makes it good.
I don’t see why you would watch this show for the “plot” when you can watch trashy OVA’s or shows that focus on just that. Maybe I’m the weird one here but still, I think the show has a lot more to offer than that.

It’s still pretty early to give a solid review but there has been a lack of reviews for this show (as of writing this) so I thought I’d jump in the ring as well. In conclusion, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 looks good, sounds good, great to have Kyoto Animation back, like that they gave credit in the opening to Takemoto Yasuhiro (rip), and the story is going pretty smooth. Go watch it if you haven’t cus this Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 is some fine wine. I rest my case.

I know that this review will get randomly deleted when the show is aired but still, I will write it

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 is literally an anime everyone watches just FoR tHe PlOt and I understand completely.

this second season Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 isn’t entirely bad or maybe this ilulu arc is just bad but still
let’s take a look at it and appreciate Kyoto animation for going through drawing this pain again I mean the visuals are amazing and really hits and Makes every single character Outstand the other, Seriously the art and Animation Slaps and keeps looking amazing every single episode

But did something get nerfed while I don’t know?

these Boob sizes are just being used as an excuse to spam boob jokes all the time

But still, for a Slice of Life anime, I would say it’s a little pushed if u know what I mean Especially episode 4 and 2 but too bad Kobayashi doesn’t have a penis anymore (the most ridiculous Joke).

This anime can be funny and can show some amazing action scenes once in
a while and be so fun to watch especially some scenes that need to be rewatched lol but it still Lacks pretty much every other single thing and I would say something about that it lacks a better protagonist no lying Kobayashi is just awkward.

but Still, Still, wE aRe WaTcHiNg fOr PlOt AfTeR aLl. Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2

1. Review of Re-Main:

Jul 31, 2021
sharonrxse (All reviews)

once again, this cour has presented yet another sports anime, and this time about water polo. Not everyone knows a lot about water polo, so it did pique my interest. Not to mention Mappa was the one animating it, so I thought wow, looks good, let’s give it a try. This is what I can say:

Story: 7.4/10. A lot of sports animes, such as Haikyuu, always take up the beginning eps to explain and emphasize the individual stories of the teammates. So far they’ve taken up 4 episodes doing this. Not that I’m complaining, but since they used up 3.5eps in a 12ep cour, I’m hoping for some good pacing throughout the entire anime. Especially hoping that they don’t rush the end or something.

The story does have potential though, and I like how the title ‘Re-Main’ is explained in the anime. Its unique name makes me think this show does have potential. Hoping that I’m not wrong about this.

Art: 9/10. I mean, sausage Mappa. The intro is beautifully animated, and the water animation feels very real. No complaints here.

Sound: 8.9/10. but it rounds up to a 9. Water splashes are fine. I’ve seen a discussion about the voice actors though, saying how the mc’s voice doesn’t really fit his appearance. It sounds fine for me, but I do admit it may sound weird 1st time hearing it. But after the 1st ep my ears got used to it so it’s fine for me now.

Character: 7.6/10. Very loveable cast, goated voice actors too. Everyone’s distinct, distinguishable, and I love the chemistry between all of them. I’m just giving it a 7.6 because it’s stereotypical, but everyone’s likable.

Enjoyment: 8.4/10. I’m new to water sports, and water polo is just the thing to get me interested. Besides that, it’s also interesting to see how they train for the sport, and how their practices work out. With the Olympics going on right now, it’s the perfect time to be learning about water polo and seeing it happen in real life.

I also really love how Mappa chose Enhypen to sing the op. The vibes match the anime perfectly, and it is a whole bop. I’m not even a kpop stan or anything, but this song might make me be one.

Overall: 7.8/10. The rivalry between our main team and the other teams seems worth watching for. I would say this gives off the same vibes as Bakuten. Really hoping they don’t mess up the ending or rush it!! Might bump it up to an 8 if it gets really good.

ApocalypSnow (All reviews)

First place for the cheesiest title in anime history—like, Re-Main as in becoming a main character again? Really?

Story: Minato Kiyamizu was a water polo champion in middle school but loses all his memories of the past three years due to an accident. He initially plans to quit water polo since he can’t even remember playing it, but a bet with the equivalent of $100 on the line makes him pick up the sport again. I haven’t seen amnesia used this creatively to get a protagonist who is both a prodigy and a total rookie. 8/10

Art: MAPPA doesn’t disappoint. The in-water animation is stellar, and the character designs are vibrant! 9/10

Sound: Water polo looks like a fun sport combining swimming, volleyball, and soccer, and the soundtrack conveys that sense of fun. The swimming race between Minato and swimming champion Shugo Amihama was suspenseful and had a hilarious outcome! 8/10

Character: Amnesiac main characters usually don’t do well, but Minato’s character brings in viewers with little to no knowledge of water polo. His teammates each have distinct personalities and stories of their own, adding more depth than most high school teams in anime where only one or two characters actually seem like people while the others are basically stereotypes. 8/10

Entertainment: It’s amnesia. It’s definitely amnesia. It’s done well, and I want to know more about all the characters. Also, Minato’s bet is a hilarious incentive for him to return to water polo. When Yamanami High gets their first match, their opponent is an awesome surprise! 10/10

Overall: I recommend this anime to anyone looking for a fun, mostly light-hearted high school sports anime or wanting to see memory loss in fiction done right. For an anime about boys in swimsuits, you might think it’d be more fanservice-y, but the teenagers’ bodies are more realistic than other shows where characters dress down. It’s the characters, not their bodies, that carry Re-Main. 8/10

I really do not understand why people avoid watching sports anime because they don’t like it or they haven’t played that particular sport the anime is about.

Re-main has been a little slow but very decent anime till now and now that it’s catching up some pace from episode 4 it seems that it will become even more enjoyable from here on out.
The anime only has 12 eps for this season and maybe it will get renewed for a new season depending upon its success in the west and especially in Japan.

Other than all that the animation seems good, it is not very detailed but it’s very clean.
voice acting is also decent nothing special in this department.

So overall I would recommend you to definitely watch Re-Main, in my opinion, this anime has been better than most of the animes which started airing this season like a detective is already dead, aquotope, etc.

Look, I absolutely love sports anime, so seeing Re-Main, a show about water polo of all things, I was so excited for some fun, tense, and hype stuff that even I enjoyed, but in the end, I was ultimately let down by some of the most outrages bullshit plots and *some* terribly boring or basic characters. Re-main has been a pretty forgettable experience as an anime.

Plot/Story: 4/10 “So how do we make an interesting show WITHOUT any of the steps to get there or making it airtight whatsoever”, well just do what Re-Main does. Basically, the main character gets in a fucking car crash, lands himself in a coma for about 200 days or so, and on top of that just to the cherry on top, he loses 3 YEARS WORTH of memories.

Which personally by my standards is a really big thing that should have a decent weight on the character’s family and himself but no. They really just gloss over it all and honestly, I feel like it was brought up to some level of importance and does make some impact, but they all weep over it for like half an episode, and then oh it’s straight back to water polo.

They could have done this so much better, at least some resistance from a family member may be being tormented over almost losing their child to make it for real in a sense. but in the end, it feels like they put the most minimal effort into it

Characters: 5/10 honestly not much to say here, the main character isn’t that bad whatsoever, and neither are any of the other characters, they all have something they want to strive for and work towards, and a really like that because it shows some level of care (unlike in some places).

But this is where the compliments end for the cast, half the team at least which there are 7 of are the blankest, basic dead characters I’ve seen in a while. if you go look up the tall ‘cant play basketball’ guy, his description is that he’s a gentle and soft person, mother fucker they are all like that seriously there’s nothing to hate about them as people but come on something juicy at least. hit me hard with some of these guys. sadly on like 3 of them did, the main protagonist, the coach/senpai of the team, and the guy who really wants to surpass his brother.

Art: 8/10 Mappa puts in work, the strongest point of this show IMO, Never ever thought was per se lacking in some points, so good job Mappa, very well done here truly.

Sound: 7/10 Does just fine, sound doesn’t really affect an anime for me unless it is actually unbearable at some points, but almost 95% of the time it honestly does not pose a problem at all. This is no different.

Overall: 4/10 I was hoping for so much more from Re-Main but it’s not a manga-based piece, it’s a collab with Mikasa the sporting goods brand so I guess I shouldn’t have hyped myself up, but I did and were here now. and who knows maybe this opinion is subject to change but this is how I feel currently at this point in time

In Seirei Gensouki Spirit Chronicles Season 1, Amakawa Haruto is a young man who died before reuniting with his childhood friend who disappeared five years ago. Rio is a boy living in the slums who wants revenge for his mother, who was murdered in front of him when he was five years old.

Earth and another world. Two people with completely different backgrounds and values. For some reason, the memories and personality of Haruto, who should’ve died, are resurrected in Rio’s body. As the two are confused over their memories and personalities fusing, Rio decides to live in this new world.

Along with Haruto’s memories, Rio awakens an unknown “special power,” and it seems that he can live a better life if he uses it well. But before that, Rio encounters a kidnapping that turns out to be of a princess of the Bertram Kingdom that he lives in.

After saving the princess, Rio is given a scholarship at the Royal Academy, a school for the rich and powerful. But, unfortunately, being a poor orphan in a school of nobles turns out to be an extremely detestable place to be.

How was Seirei Gensouki Spirit Chronicles Season 1 first episode?

Seirei Gensouki Spirit Chronicles Season 1 has all the tropes of countless other “isekai” tales. A normal Japanese high schooler awakens in a fantasy world with all the knowledge he had in our world, has some “cheat skill” that helps him survive, and soon finds himself caught up in a dangerous situation involving him a girl from danger.

Of course, implementing a well-used framework isn’t a problem in and of itself. After all, twist the decades-old magical girl framework one way, and you get Madoka Magica. Twist it the other, and you get Kill la Kill. What’s important when writing something in a popular and well-establish genre isn’t what you keep the same, but rather what you change to set your story apart.SEIREI GENSOUKI: SPIRIT CHRONICLES SEASON 1 photo 1

In Seirei Gensouki Spirit Chronicles Season 1, this twist comes from the circumstances in which Haruto finds himself after awakening in the fantasy world—namely, the problem of having two minds in one body. It’s not as if Ryo has Haruto’s memories of Japan.

Nor is it the case where Haruto’s personality and memories overwrite Ryo’s. Rather it is treated as an almost mental invasion where Ryo and Haruto’s minds fight for control over their shared body regardless of any conscious attempt.

It’s a cool concept, having our hero as the unwanted invader in some poor kid’s head. Unfortunately, this gets pushed to the background once the action kicks into high gear. However, we can’t exactly fault Ryo/Haruto for using whichever’s knowledge, and personality is best equipped for any given situation (be it Haruto’s martial arts or Ryo’s street smarts).

I look forward to seeing how this mental battle progresses once things calm down a bit in the story. And if we look at the visual storytelling in the train crash scene, it looks like Haruto may not be the only one facing an internal battle with a personality from another world—both Miharu and a young girl were on the same bus as him after all.

So while this first episode is largely by the numbers in most aspects, I am interested in the twist on the formula and will be watching the next episode or two to see how things turn out.

Reviews of anime Sonny Boy:

1. Review of anime Sonny Boy:
Aug 5, 2021
mbartelsm (All reviews)

Sonny boy is a borderline surrealist psychological character drama that follows a group of school students who’ve been trapped in a series of alternate dimensions that do not quite follow the rules of our universe as we know them (some would call it an isekai, but it really shares very little with the genre). We follow those students as the situation they are in forces them to confront their inner struggles.

This anime is not for everyone, it is a show that will demand a certain level of attention and thinking for the audience to really enjoy it, so many dismiss it as “pretentious” or “artsy” out of spite.

On a technical level, the show is simple but impressive. It is obvious that the director has a very clear picture of what he wants and how to achieve it.

Art: 10/10

Sonny boy stands out first and foremost because of its art direction. Backgrounds are crisp and colourful; characters are detailed and evocative; animation is complex and fluid. The aesthetic of the series is reminiscent of old-school anime, but colour and composition are unlike most you’ll see out there.

Sound 9/10

The sound direction is simple but effective. Background music is used very sparingly, giving the show an overall real feeling, while highlighting the key moments that do have music. Sound design is clear and crisp as, without music, the series relies on good quality sound effects.

Acting 8/10

I don’t speak Japanese, so take this one with a grain of salt. Being almost entirely dialogue-driven, the series has a great cast able to make even drawn-out monologues captivating and full of emotion.

Story ???/10

It’s hard to judge the story as of yet as the show seems to be building towards something but it’s not quite clear what, yet.

In general, it is a character drama about human nature. Each episode deals with a problem that the characters face thanks to the situation they’ve been put in. However, these problems that are addressed are always a reflection of who the characters are at their core. It uses the plot as a tool to inspect human behavior.

Enjoyment ???/10

As I mentioned in the beginning, this show can be hit or miss depending on what you hope to get out of it. It requires that the audience takes their time to think about the message and morals that each episode touches on. This is not the kind of show that you watch for simple entertainment, it’s gonna bore you if that’s the case.

MangaZed (All reviews)

TLDR: This show is strange and slow. However, the slowness comes from minimalism. The story of Sonny Boy is complicated yet minimalistic, so are the characters, audio, and art style. To me, this adds to the immersion. I am enjoying this heavily, it is very chilled out so I would only watch this on a nice evening with a cup of tea just before I go to bed.

This show is weird, not Sarazanmai weird, but more Ping Pong animation – Mononoke – Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei weird. If that puts you off there is no reason to watch Sonny Boy. Very few things that happen make inherent sense, the characters and their actions don’t always make sense, events that are happening don’t make sense. And yet just like House Of Cubes, it still grabs your attention and you can’t help but start to care.

Sonny Boy is a seven because it is strange and doesn’t make sense, however, that is purposefully done, the problem is that sometimes I am unable to follow even that little bit of what is being explained. But it is still enough to pull you forward and gladly interests you in what is to come.

Art is of low resolution, just like Mushoku Tensei you see the pixels, however, it can be incredibly detailed. Similar to Ping Pong or Tower of God the weird art style fits this strange story perfectly, weird long necks like Ballroom e Youkoso, but when they zoom in or when a scene is shown that isn’t a normal scene, i.e. not something like a tree that you have seen before. The creativity is clearly shown and the art style is really intriguing.

There is a little sound, which is a good thing. When they are standing on the beach all you hear is the sand/the ocean and the characters talking but it sounds as if you are right there, the little music is also relaxing. The minimalistic audio is great very immersing.

The characters are either typical tropes that aren’t clear yet or they are all boring characters. The main characters aren’t anything special either, although to me this adds to the immersion in the sense of most people aren’t anything special, so that is still a wait and see until now the characters are simple but they don’t all feel as useless background characters well most don’t anyway.

I love it, I gotta say I started watching this at random but the relaxing, simple, but strange story intrigued me and I enjoy just watching them in their strange world trying to figure it out. Sonny Boy is extremely chilled out, do keep that in mind.

3. Review of anime Sonny Boy:

How was the first episode?

Caitlin Moore
Rating: 4/5

I’m not entirely sure what to make of Sonny Boy based on the first episode. This original work, animated at Madhouse and written and directed by Shingo Natsume, takes obvious influence from classics like The Drifting Classroom and Lord of the Flies. It melds and merges these concepts into a single idea: what if a school and 36 of its students were suddenly transported into a black void with no way to contact the outside world, and at the same time, they started to develop strange powers?

Their responses are as varied as they are themselves. Many of the characters’ personalities are already coming through loud and clear, though how they’re coping with their sudden displacement in spacetime, how they interact with others, and even their body language.

Their powers are often strange, never settling for the classics like telekinesis or flight; instead, they’re things like receiving interdimensional Amazon deliveries. Even if the main components of the story are already well-established, Natsume finds space within them to be creative and unsettling.

Natsume’s directorial choices add to the strange atmosphere and its sense of simultaneous mystery and stagnation. The character designs shift and warp, moving deliberately off-model in ways that made me wonder if this was a Yuasa anime before remembering that I already knew who directed it. The complete lack of background music – and I do mean complete since there isn’t a single note of it – adds to the unnerving sense that they truly are alone in the void, and everything they knew about society is breaking down.

If nothing else, the first episode of Sonny Boy works as a twenty-minute mood piece. It’ll be interesting to see the direction the narrative takes because I can sense in a very real way that there’s a greater theme about society

4. Review of anime Sonny Boy:

Nicholas Dupree
Rating: 2,5/5

This premiere, more than just about anything else this season, left me frustrated. On paper, there are a lot of interesting things going for Sonny BoyShingo Natsume is a unique and confident director, working with an original concept and utilizing a decidedly atypical visual style. The concept of a classroom of students trying to survive and cooperate in such a strange, out-there scenario has a lot of potentials. And yet I can’t help but feel like this first episode is a letdown.

A big part of that is the story presentation. While lots of potentially interesting character beats and stories are set up in this premiere, I’ve so far been given little reason to care about any of it. The episode is so busy establishing its concept and skipping through the immediate Lord of the Flies-style power struggle that follows that we never really get to know any of our major characters.

We’re granted tidbits of characterization that could maybe lead to something engaging, but between our enigmatic heroine Nozomi and our blank-faced male lead Nagara, I could maybe shake out half a paragraph about who they are or what they want or how they feel about anything that happens in this episode.

The climax is also obviously meant to raise eyebrows and have us asking questions about just what is going on, but without an emotional anchor it just comes off as a shrug before cutting to credits.

I also have a personal problem with the way this episode uses music – in that it doesn’t. There’s not a single piece of music save for the credits theme, and the lack of a credited music composer has me pretty worried that that’ll be the norm for this series.

That’s not great, because while eschewing non-diegetic sound can be a creative or bold approach, it made a lot of this premiere’s tension fall flat. In a story like this, the atmosphere is everything, and the visuals alone just aren’t enough to make teenagers listlessly talking in classrooms against a pure black backdrop interesting to follow, which is 90% of this opening episode.

It also has the effect of making every scene feel longer and duller than it’s meant to and is probably what soured me the most on this one. So yeah, pretty frustrating. There’s still plenty of room for Sonny Boy to build into something worthy of actual interest instead of vague curiosity, and I’ll be watching more if only because of how weak this season is, but I feel safe calling this premiere a disappointment.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime 2

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime 2 – Part 2 Story :

The popular portal fantasy anime That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is returning later this year. What will Season 2 entail, and when does it air?

Satoru Mikami is a corporate worker who lives a very boring life despite being 37 years old. He has no regrets but only one, as in his 37 years of life, he can’t make a girlfriend.

When he was meeting a friend, he becomes a victim of a random thug who stabs him. While succumbing to his injuries, a strange voice echoes in his head, but these voices do not make any sense.

After a while, Satoru gains consciousness, and he realizes that he is not a human anymore and has been reincarnated into a different realm as a slime.

He also notices that some strange powers like the power to devour anything and taking the personality of others. He then faces a sealed demon Veldora who has been sealed away for the past 300 years for destroying a town.

Due to his sympathetic behavior, Satoru becomes friends with Veldora. In return, Veldora promises Satoru eternal protection and gives him a new name, ‘Rimuru Tempest’. This starts a new adventure in a very different realm than earth.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime 2 is a light novel that has been adapted into a manga. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime 2 is written by Fuse and is drawn by Mitz Vah. The monthly manga is published by the popular publisher Kodansha comics, while Yen Press has licensed the light novel in North America.

In manga and anime, the isekai genre is still going strong all over the world. The term “isekai” generally refers to stories in which a milquetoast protagonist falls into the world of a high fantasy realm or video game and builds a new, exciting life for themselves.

The most popular tales in the genre have offshoots in anime, manga, video games, light novels and more. And with more isekai debuting every season and rocketing to popularity, it seems people cannot get enough.

In fact, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slimea true standout among the current wave of isekai anime, recently announced a Season 2. Here’s everything we know so far about what the second season will entail.

That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime: The Story So Far

That Time I Was Reincarnated As A Slime

The protagonist of Slime, Satoru Mikami, is a 30-something salaryman who wakes up in a fantasy world after dying from a stab wound.

This is par for the course, except Satoru doesn’t wake up as himself — he comes back as an honest-to-goodness, Dragon Quest-style slime.

This might seem like a raw deal, but being a slime actually grants Satoru a unique ability: “Predator.” This allows him to devour anything and copy its appearance and abilities.

Using this power, Satoru befriends a massively powerful dragon named Veladora, changes his name to “Rimuru Tempest”, and sets out on a quest that sees him unite all sorts of different factions beneath him.

He meets a Chosen One, finds a forest alliance, and even attracts the ire of a few Demon Lords.

Not bad for a slime. The series is known for its well-rounded development of characters and refreshing take on a genre filled with bursting.

Though it often plays into standard isekai tropesThat Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has a strong, character-focused center that has made it popular worldwide.

What To Expect In That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime 2 :

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2

The anime’s first season covered up to the middle of Volume 4 of writer Fuse and illustrator Mitz Vah’s light novel series. By that estimate, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime 2 should cover through to at least Volume 8. 15 volumes have been published in Japan so far,

which could mean even more seasons in the future. However, the first seven books have been translated into English by Yen Press if you can’t wait for the second season.

So far, not much is known about Slime Season 2. But, if the novels are any indication, we could be in for a dark turn. Volume 5 sees Demon Lord Milim declare war on a nearby kingdom — one that’s on the side of Rimuru and the Jura Forest Alliance.

Unable to contact his friends, Rimuru resorts to something positively demonic in an attempt to settle things back home — and that’s just the beginning.

The cover of Volume 5 sports a Rimuru that looks slightly older than before, and appearance change that usually comes with a huge power upgrade in anime.

Considering Season 1 ended in the middle of Volume 4 of the light novels, Season 2 should pick right back up with no time skips.

Final That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime 2 Thoughts :

Final That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime 2 has been part of a solid showing by isekai titles in the Winter 2021 season. The show has been consistently entertaining, exciting and every episode made you want to watch the next one almost immediately.

Waiting week in and week out for this anime was the stuff of nightmares, but that’s how you know you have yourself a brilliant anime!

The expansion of the world, plot, and development of Rimuru as a character this season has been excellent. The show manages to bring out darker elements without losing its personality as a series.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime 22 has been a Winter 2021 masterclass of an anime, and it has improved upon the foundation laid by the first season. We can’t wait for this story to continue!

The Dungeon of Black Company Synopsis:

Kinji Ninomiya is a NEET who has amassed enough money through real-estate investment to fund a penthouse lifestyle without ever having to work. This changes when a portal suddenly transports him to a fantasy world where he quickly ends up enslaved to a mining company extracting crystals from a dungeon. Desperate for a way out of this new poverty, Kinji tries to regain financial stability by any means necessary, gathering himself an unusual adventuring party – the titular black company – in the process.

The Dungeon of Black Company Introduction:

Kinji had it made – a swank apartment, a real estate empire, and enough cash to lounge around living the good life. After a freak magical accident, he washes up in another world, all but enslaved to a crooked corporation. In a fantastical land where money is everything, there’s only one way for an Earthling to get ahead: make your fortune, by any means necessary! Dragons, goblins, and the occasional dubious potion won’t stop Kinji’s quest for the world’s biggest bank account. The Black Company is open for business.

Kinji awakens and meets Ranga, the cross-dressing male priestess who summoned him, and Zazel, the fanatical leader of an underground human village living in a city created thousands of years ago by the advanced Calonian civilization. Zazel reveals 300 years previously an evil corporation took over the world and threatens Kinji into defeating them.

Kinji realizes he is actually in Amuria 300 years in the future and the evil corporation is Raiza’ha. Arriving at a castle Kinji learns it belongs to Demon Lord Belza’s deputy, General Ant, whom Kinji realizes is actually his friend Ant A, who has evolved into a powerful monster and is overjoyed to see Kinji.

It is revealed that, far from exploiting humans, General Ant treats them fairly, asking only that they work 40 hours a week while providing holidays and health insurance, the problem is humans of the future are unreasonably lazy and believe 40 hours is too much work. Belza has not run the corporation in years and General Ant doesn’t know what to do.

Deciding to help Kinji take over as General Ninomiya, punishes lazy workers and rewards hard workers, making the company profitable again, and also takes over the underground city, replacing Zazel as a leader and forcing the citizens to return to work.

The Demon Lord is the resurrected Majin, Rim’s twin sister. She explains the Calonian civilization created dungeons and Guardians like Rim to manage the flow of magic throughout the planet, but when Rim met Kinji and abandoned her dungeon Raiza’ha was able to mine all the way to the bottom and use the advanced technology of the Calonian city beneath it to take over the world.

Majin temporarily defeated Raiza’ha and became Demon Lord, but Raiza’ha has returned, having turned their corporate slaves into robots to defeat Majin and turn the planet into a dystopia empty of biological life. Thus she offers Kinji a choice; return to Japan or go back in time and stop Raiza’ha in the past.

Kinji chooses to go back in time where as a Raiza’ha employee Belza fines him 10 million gold for going missing for a month, forcing him, Rim, Ranga, and Wanibe to move into Shia’s flat where Kinji explains his plan, to get to the bottom of the dungeon and reach the Calonian city before Belza so he can capture their technology and take over the world first instead of Belza.

It has been a long time since I’ve seen a good isekai and this one really stands out…
The basic plot is the mc is transported into another with no power no special skills no game screen and all.
He is made to work in mining where the employees are exploited by the higher-ups. The mc is very cunning and tries to become rich with his wit and that’s the basic gist of the show.
The best part of the show is, of course, the mc, he is cunning, confident, manipulative, and does not possess any other special skill, strength or smartphone, or anything that makes him stand out. He does not need to defeat anybody he just wants to be rich and he will use anybody for his wishes and it is really entertaining to see him work his ass off.

The rest of the cast is also great the lizard guy looks a lot like mc from dorohedoro.
The animation style feels somewhat unique, the voice actors and the soundtracks are also done decently.

I think a lot of people still are still sleeping on this.
Watch the first episode it only gets better from there

This is hands down – one of the best isekai of this season for me – The Dungeon of Black Company, the other one is moonlit fantasy, and by my reviews, you can tell I watched each one of them.

The Dungeon of Black Company, a very subpar manga that I had heard about a year ago. When the anime was announced I had little to no exceptions but since slime came out this season, I joined that bandwagon, the point is This is the hidden gem this season without a doubt.

Though it had an interesting setting, The manga had failed to bring life to the characters so I was worried that the anime would just be similar or a bit better.

I underestimated the power of VAs

The VA s in this anime has done the most perfect job, a lizardman who is big and strong but lacks the confidence or the spine to even hurt a fly, A cocky MC who finds ways to make a quick buck and is lazy but isn’t afraid to hustle to a successful future, A loli monster I repeat .. lol…small … monster. The examples are endless, the sound and feel exactly as they should.

It’s perfect for an otherwise average story, the plot isn’t very weak but for the karoshi(worked to death) ridden japan it is a very serious topic and the MC is the example of work smart, not hard And there’s a lot one can learn from that. This is a comedy anime before an isekai and it does its job well that’s all you need to know. As for the stats so far

Art and animation: 8/10
Original monsters and great-looking characters who don’t seem to be a carbon copy, the setting is an urbanized isekai with demons and beastfolk and it looks perfect (A hardhat goblin really is some level of social commentary now, eh? xD) .

Plot and characters: 8/10
Very original story No kirito clone nice guy with a harem, A strong practical and optimistic protagonist who isn’t afraid to push to the limits to get what he wants and that is very likable, The lizard dude may sound odd at first but later on, You realize it fits his personality perfectly.

VA And sound (op, ED): 10/10
LOW BUDGET But heaven whoever did the hiring of VAs needs a raise, this person has done a fantastic job of gathering the best suited (even if not famous )
VAs for the anime, The ED is my favorite Ed of the season and I love the animation in it too.

Isekai fan or not everyone needs to give this anime The Dungeon of Black Company a try whether get reinspired and stop being a Work animal and learn to think and fend for themselves once more or just for fun ride.

Alright, I’m gonna keep this short but to whoever that read this, don’t trust the mediocre score cause this show The Dungeon of Black Company is good AF.

Let’s start with the character, The MC, he’s a NEET but not a lowly NEET like all previous isekai, he’s a rich and cool NEET that already achieve everything that he needs in life, but when he’s on top suddenly somehow he’s getting sucked by a black portal that sends him to a place where he is nothing but a corporate slave without no cheat, no extra power and the only thing he brought from his previous life is his economic knowledge.

Now if that’s wasn’t interesting, then I don’t know what. The art is superb and the animation is on point. Any character besides the MC is quite decent, especially the lizard guy and Rimu since she’s cute. The OP is lit, I would definitely never skip it.

Overall I’m really enjoying The Dungeon of Black Company so far, hope my enjoyment can last till the last episode.

Some say you wouldn’t want to be Isekai’d into Re: zero. Well, you wouldn’t want to be Isekai’d into this universe either. Sure, for fewer dangers, but still dangers non the less. Its part of this shows charm, and it really puts an interesting twist on the Isekai trope. Imagine instead of being the hero, or just getting a better life, you’re instead sucked from your set for life riches, to basically start it all over again from scratch. This is The Dungeon of Black Company.

Story and characters.
Both of these fit together, as it’s part of the character’s personality that really pushes it. Even if most of them seem this corporate scumbag look down upon most ruthless persona, while some others are actually tamer, or at least just want out of this hell hole. A wide mix of characters really set the tone of the story, and how hard life can be on you.

Imagine a fantasy dungeon, filled with monsters, rare items, gems, the works. Now imagine you’re forced to work there, nonstop, for so many hours like a dead-end job. It’s what the term The Dungeon of Black Company is all about after all. A ruthless working environment. But long as the company makes money and profit, then that’s all that matters.

As for how the story is fleshed out, there are some rather comedic moments at times, you either don’t want to cheer for the main MC, or just hope he gets a smack for his ideals at times. His companion in this, Wanibe, is actually one that you can root for, and wish for the best. While Rimu is just a precious monster, though, wouldn’t want to cross her.

If you’re looking for a fun happy Isekai, that you go on an adventure with, then this isn’t it. While it’s still a good watch of course, but it comes across as if Kazuma from Konosuba was stuck in a ruthless dead-end job, and tries everything to get out of it. It’s that kind of fun Iseaki, and it’s really something.

Art and sound.
The art style can really be great at times, while its normal style does look very normal, and the animation isn’t bad at all. But there are some moments where it really stands out. Like how they make the gems glow, and continue to glow throughout. I may be biased towards shiny things, but hey, it looks good. While the sound is fit for purpose as always.

The Dungeon of Black Company is a strange one, but one that does keep me interested week to week. I’d advise giving it a shot honestly!

Interesting Facts about anime The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!:

  • The Great Jahy’s name appears to be a shortened form of the Japanese word “jashin”, which can either mean “evil god” (じゃしん jashin) or “wicked heart” (じゃしん jashin) depending on its reading.
  • Mao’s name literally translates to “demon king” (おう maō?). It may be more of a title than a given name.
  • When written in kanji, Kokoro’s first name can mean “heart” (こころ Kokoro).
  • Kyoko had decided to destroy the mana crystals and save humanity.
  • The Great Jahy’s design was likely based on that of Safi, a character from Wakame Konbu‘s previous manga, Dreaming Prima Girl!, as the two share a number of physical similarities.
  • The store Manager tends to call Jahy, Hy-chan, even though Jahy tells her otherwise. When she found out that Jahy can transform, she found Jahy to be even cuter.
  • Druj has been seen to be able to create a dark aura around her, which may be related to further powers she may possess.
  • Saurva has a super-natural ability to ruin her own schemes in simple acts of idiocy or sheer bad luck.
  • The Landlady is ready to resort to violence in order to get her rent and unlike her sister, Store Manager, the Landlady is not as sympathetic to Jahy
  • Druj Although the specifics are unknown, Druj has stated that she can control the hearts of others in order to make things go her way. It appears to activate upon eye contact. She used this power in order to become successful in the human world.
  • The Great Jahy ability is to use a mana crystal, The Great Jahy is able to remove particles such as dirt and grime and quell stenches without physically moving. She can also cause thunderstorms, and manipulate some form of gem-like matter to use as projectiles.
  • Mao prefers staying with the magical girl, because of her food supplies.
  • The Great Jahy was transformed into a child upon leaving the Dark Realm but is still able to revert to her initial form for a limited period of time each day as long as she is in possession of a mana crystal. The duration of time for which she’s able to transform is dictated by the size and power of the gem she’s using. Back before the realm’s deconstruction, she was also able to grow a pair of wings.

The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated! Episode 1

by Mercedez Clewis,

How would you rate episode 1 of
The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!?

Community score: 3.9

From the moment The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated! blasted me with its OP, I knew that I’d probably feel one of two ways: I either wouldn’t be into this, or I’ll have a heel-turn as I did with Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro where I ended up ultimately liking the show and even lauding it.

Perhaps that’s because Jahy joins the current pantheon of tanned/dark-skinned girls in anime with that impish, fanged grin, all of whom are turning out to be pretty good kids. Also, I like demon girl characters (and monster girls in general) because they’re often pretty funny.

Either way, let’s get into episode 1, “The Great Jahy Can’t Go Back!”, which focuses on the titular Jahy, a formerly beautiful, powerful demon, and the Dark Lord’s second-in-command in the Dark Realm. Revered and feared (and with an endless supply of claret wine), Jahy had it all… until a magical girl absolutely wrecked Jahy’s day.

And as silly as that is, it was enough to make me full out guffaw because of its The Devil is a Part-Timer! meets Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle energy, which is promising for future episodes.

What follows is twenty minutes of watching a miniature, child-sized Jahy that’s having the roughest time of it, surviving on bean sprouts and bean sprouts alone. And while she never stops declaring her intent to hunt down the mana crystals and restore her former glory, she also uses the smidgen of magic she has left to allow herself to work at an izakaya, which immediately endeared me to her.

In many ways, The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated! reminds me a lot of Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle with its somewhat frenetic and slapstick energy. Jahy is demon Princess Syalis, though she’s much less resourceful and destructive. Honestly, I’m kind of here for Jahy and her quest to get back to the Dark Realm and be the best #girloverlord she can be.

While this episode got some laughs out of me, I wouldn’t say that it is consistently laugh-out-loud hilarious. I’ll credit a part of that to my minimal (read: non-existent) knowledge of this series.

I’ll also be honest: The Great Jahy is kind of a brat, which makes her feel a bit one-note (though admittedly, I’d kind of behave the same way if all I had to live on were bean sprouts and a bit of mana). That said, I’m definitely hoping The Great Jahy will become a bit more developed in the next episode or two if only so the somewhat stale gags become a bit funnier.

For instance, the entire sequence of Jahy’s backstory was genuinely hilarious and had me wheezing, so I’m looking forward to seeing more of that. I’m definitely willing to give this show the benefit of the doubt and keep an open mind: I’m really rooting for it to become the cute slice of life comedy that I’d love to chill with this season.

In the end, the humor in The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!‘s premiere didn’t always land for me, but it also has enough comedic beats that I didn’t find my mind drifting from it. It definitely has potential, but I can also see myself coming down hard on the series, especially if its depiction of Jahy in her more youthful form ever dips into absolutely unfunny and becomes a problem.

Really, I can’t promise that you’ll always agree with my opinion on the show in the coming weeks: in fact, you probably won’t, which is fine because I think that’s natural. I just ask that you understand that I’m coming at this from an anime-only angle, and actually want to see this show make its fans happy.

I’m the kind of viewer – and reviewer – that is pleasing as punch when media get anime adaptations, especially for fans who have been eagerly awaiting the English localization of the manga. I’m going to do my best to treat this series with an open mind, and I honestly sense that I’ll like it a lot more once it hits its stride.

After all, I need something to fill the “demon girl down on her luck” hole in my heart. I just also need that something to be funny, and as a premiere, this didn’t always hit the mark.

Then again, I’m the only person stanning Lucky Star in 2021 purely on its comedy, so perhaps you can’t trust my sense of humor (or lack thereof, depending on your perspective).

But ultimately, what I’m saying is that I definitely plan to give The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated! a fair chance week to week, and I hope that you’ll enjoy my perspective as we all root for this year’s best demon girl to get her powers – and her pride – back.

Rating: 3/5

2. Review of The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!

Review by Rebecca Silverman,

Did you ever wonder what happens to all those demons and villains that the heroes defeat? Probably not – because the assumption is always that the world is better off without them, so why should we care if they end up living in a cardboard box by the river?

But be that as it may, The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated! is still here to answer your questions about what becomes of the defeated villains…and the answer is a fish-out-of-water comedy that takes The Devil is a Part-Timer!‘s premise and makes it more difficult for its protagonist.

That protagonist, who was of course the antagonist of an unnamed magical girl tale, is Jahy. Back in the Dark Realms, she was second only to the king himself, and spent her days in luxury as she commanded legions – oftentimes to do things like cook her food, prepare her baths, and other mundane things.

Or at least, they seemed mundane until that thrice-damned magical girl shattered the mana crystal that apparently powered the entire demon world and robbed her of her power. Suddenly The Great Jahy found herself in a child’s body in the human world. Having only the tiny mana crystal she was somehow able to grab in the crisis, The Great Jahy is almost entirely devoid of magical power.

She can use the crystal to temporarily regain her adult body – which is a good thing because not many reputable places hire apparent eight-year-olds – but otherwise, she’s really no different from your average human. To say that this sucks might be an understatement.

Most of Jahy’s problems, little girl body aside, stem from the fact that she’s been so powerful for so long that she has no idea how to do most of the basic, everyday life things. It’s bad enough having to bathe in a tiny washtub without being reminded that once she luxuriated in rose-scented tubs of unmatched depth and comfort, and the fact that she now has to fill the tub herself really just feels like adding insult to injury.

None of The Great Jahy’s minions appear to have made the transition with her (at first), so she’s truly on her own and has to learn to do things from the ground up. Then when she finally does find another dark denizen, Druj, she’s too embarrassed by how much better Druj seems to be doing to ask for help – and since Druj firmly believes in Jahy’s greatness and extreme capability, she tends to put a rosy spin on everything Jahy says anyway, assuming that her former mistress is still living like a queen.

Although it’s never really elaborated upon (we have no idea what Druj does for work in the human world, only that she’s a “president” and very wealthy), part of the secret to Druj’s success may be that she managed to retain her adult form.

Jahy’s child body is adorable, but also incredibly unhelpful, and when her boss at the bar where she becomes a waitress in her brief adult moments finds out her secret, all she wants to do is say how cute little Jahy is; her adorability doesn’t even net her free room and board.

In fact, the apartment she lives in belongs to the boss and her sister, but the sister is bound and determined that Jahy will pay rent, child or no. (Jahy, meanwhile, is equally stubborn about not paying. Jahy’s really not helping herself here.)

As you might guess, the humor does verge on the mean side. Because we can see that Jahy is the author of many of her own setbacks, it mostly avoids coming off that way, but the later chapters with the landlady do come close to crossing that particular line.

While it isn’t necessarily fair to say that because she’s in a child’s body, Jahy deserves more consideration than if she, like Druj, retained adult form, it does make for some occasionally uncomfortable moments. On the other hand, Jahy is so laughably bad at meeting her goals in ways that have zero to do with how she looks that it almost doesn’t matter.

The story is a bit redundant in this first volume. This is due to the fact that the pre-series short chapters are also included in the book, so territory covered in chapters .1 and .2 are also re-covered in chapters 1 and 2, albeit in extended form. It’s a short volume anyway – a bit over 160 pages – but that works for the style of comedy.

The art does enhance things nicely; the characters are all distinct and fun to look at (especially both forms of Jahy) and there’s just enough detail to ground things without feeling overwhelming. (The magical girl also looks like a Cardcaptor Sakura reference, which is a nice touch.) There’s one awkward bit of translation when Jahy’s boss starts calling her “Sweet-hy” as a nickname, which just feels ungainly, but other than that, this is a well-put-together book.

The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated! is a simple, fun comedy. It tries to make the most of its premise and largely succeeds, and if it does verge on mean humor, it generally doesn’t cross the line. It’s a good light read, and that’s never a bad thing.

Makoto is a short (160 cm) and a young teenage man with black mid-length hair and eyes. His facial features are average in appearance but to those of the Goddess’s world, he is considered ugly and/or being mistaken as a demi-human of some kind.

Like many other students his age, Makoto is quite naive. In sports and his studies, he is barely on average. Thus he is in no way considered special. This causes him to feel empathy towards individuals who are looked upon less favorably in the Goddess’ world as is the case of demi-humans, mamonos, and demons. So he has no qualms about helping them selflessly, even if that generates bad opinions of him among the Human society.

Isekai parody can be huge, some of us already know why,

Plot: reverse isekai + isekai since some of the MC family is actually from the isekai world you will know when you watch the first episode what I meant. It is more light-hearted and fun and adopts from major isekai hits for example the MC is put on a pedestal by his people like slime, the MC is overpowered and has similar overpowered subordinates as in overlord.

He is given the short end of the stick when it comes to abilities like in shield hero, And the girls seem like they would be a HIT in KONOsuba.the end goal is also very much better than most isekai it’s not defeating evil or demon lord or some shit, it is just to trace the movements of his family (some of who are from this world )

Characters: the only redeeming factor since the story thus far hasn’t taken shape, they are beautiful, quirky, funny, and full of flaws xD. The main girls clearly resemble the Konosuba girls and you can tell.

VA: Not much to comment on a lot of popular VA sare in this one especially the orc girl and they haven’t had a chance to show off yet

Animation and art: It can go to the standard Isekai power fantasy level but not as high as Mushoku Tensei. but definitely no CGI-like overlord xD. The fantasy world is nice and has all the standard D&D races beautifully drawn to look as they would be expected to look.

I LOVE THE OP It’s totally my type.

Normally I wouldn’t be too fond of these types of shows. But there is just something about this, that has its own charm. Hell, the description of the Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy, honestly gave me a fair few laughs. While it still follows certain Isekai tropes, it’s still pretty fun in its own right. If you’re looking for that kind of show, then this might be for you!

The story is basically the main interest of Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy, which really drives it. After all, this isn’t some quest to fight the demon lord at the end, Imagine being moved here, only to be kicked away cause of your looks.

Only to pick up some fucking weirdos along the way, as you push on forward through your journey, but with mountains of issues piling up, stopping you in your tracks and make you go about it differently. That’s basically a sum of the story, going off on your own adventure, after being cased away.

It reminds me of a mix of a more light-toned Shield Hero, Slime Isekai, and Konosuba. Not all of it, but at least bits and pieces from each of those. As if the plot points, and how the characters interact, really show that in a better light than what describing words could do within a review. Speaking of which, they pretty much carry the show.

As if they basically just said to all of them to go have fun with it. The MC is far from bland, Tomoe is just out there and fun. While Mio seems like a crazy bitch, but can be calmer at times when she wants to. All three are great characters, of which I can’t wait to see more of.

The art style is great too. Being good when it needs to be in certain situations, such as when it’s more light, or when it’s darker. Even the battles in the Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy look decently good animation-wise. Some really good stuff for sure. Much like the sounds are, can’t really put a foot wrong here, wonderful stuff.

If you’re looking for a wild and fun show this season, this is surely one of them. Start watching Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy now!

Countless isekais have been pumped out of the anime industry over the years, and this is no exception.

This anime includes:
Overpowered main character: ✓
Heroines that are also slightly overpowered: ✓
Moe and dere: ✓
Saving lolis: ✓
Making monsters into cute anime girls: ✓
Gods and deities: ✓

This anime does not include:
Truck Kun: 𐄂
A ridiculous amount of fanservice: 𐄂

Now to the real review (May include very minor spoilers)

Story: 7/10
This anime as said follows the isekai formula very closely, however, it has its own twist and turns. Overall the plot is very simple and some messages are unclear.Art: 5/10
The art and animation aren’t bad nor is it good. It’s just you’re generic art style.Character: 7/10
There isn’t much depth yet to the characters nor would I expect depth to them, however, this doesn’t make it bad. The characters are funny and relatable. And most importantly the characters are unique to other Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy. They have characteristics that no other major characters have brought a wide variety of jokes and action.

Enjoyment: 9/10
I really enjoyed Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy and I am genuinely surprised.

Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuuis another isekai anime but one thing that is very different is that it does not directly go to fanservice.
The best thing which I like here is that the author did not try to make the MC to OP that he is invincible (You will understand after watching a few episodes).I have read only the manga and not the light novel. The story so far s going according to the manga and in a very detailed manner.
The animation, sound, voice actors are of high quality. Though C2C studio has not made much anime it is doing a great job with this one.

For now, I am rating it 7 after watching 4 episodes but it will change accordingly after watching the complete season. (The detailed scores are below).

It has a slow-paced story but has a smooth flow and the development that takes place in the storyline is very interesting.
As the story is very slow-paced so seeing as they are only making 12 episodes concerns me, that they might change the story and end it in a single season.
I hope that they will continue to follow the storyline and continue with this series.

Overall 7
Story 7
Animation 8
Sound 8
Character 7
Enjoyment 7
Voice Actors 8
